The Department of Electronic Science has two British Commonwealth Fellowship Awardees as its faculty.
This Department thrives for quality research, with academic staffs who are global experts in their respective fields. Students in this department study with people whose work contributes significantly in redefining knowledge boundary.
We are planning new courses with interdisciplinary components that can challenge conventional ones and hopefully rejuvenate the present University Education system. We have a focused vision for the future and a strong commitment to research in emerging areas.
This course is being offered since the inception of the Department of Electronic Science in the year 1991-92, with joint sponsorship of University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Department of Electronics (presently Ministry of Information Technology), Government of India, to cater the need for Electronics personnel in the R & D sector of Government organizations, public sector, and private sector units of the country. At present, it is a 4 semester taught course with a project component in the final semester.
The entry to this course is based on merit determined from applicant’s carrier and performance in an Admission Test, taken together.

From the session 2007-08, the Department is offering M.Tech. (EIS) Course in Self-Finance mode. It is a 4 Semester Course consisting of taught courses as well as project works. The first two semesters builds the background through taught courses and Technical Seminar writing. The last two semesters are meant for project work, where students work rigorously in a focused area of Electronic & Information Systems under a qualified supervisor.
To enter into this course a student must have proficiency in the courses of B.Tech. (Electronics & Telecommunication or equivalent) or M. Sc. (Electronic Science/ Information Systems/ Information Technology/ Electronics & Telecommunication/ Physics with Electronics Specialization or equivalent). The admission is made through a process decided by the Chairman, P.G. Council from time to time.

Classes are conducted beyond normal working hours as well as on Sundays & other holidays as per convenience of the Guest Instructors.
At present the Department offers Ph.D. in Electronic Science. A proposal to offer Ph.D. in Electronic Science & Technology is being made to the University for Consideration. There are four specializations to choose from: Electronic Materials & Devices, Instrumentation, RF & Wireless Communication Systems and Digital Signal Processing.
Entry to the program is as prescribed in the Regulation from time to time.
