Born on 24th June 1964 in a village of Kendrapara District in Odisha, Sailendra Dwivedi is deeply connected to his roots. He has completed his schooling in Korua High School (Kendrapara) and did his Inter and Graduation in Ravenshaw College, Cuttack. He was privileged to be taught by stalwarts like Prof. Altaf Hussain when doing his Graduation in History. Sri Dwivedi did his Post-Graduation in Personnel Management and Labour Welfare from Utkal University, Vani Vihar, Bhubaneswar in 1985. He was appointed as Labour Officer in the Government of Orissa in the year 1986 and continued there till 1990. He joined Odisha Administrative Service in May 1990 and has been posted in various capacities both in the field and Secretariat. Sri Dwivedi has undergone a diploma course in Decentralised Governance and Planning from IRMA, Anand. Before joining as Registrar on 1.12.2017, he was posted as Additional Secretary to Government, Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Department.

Sri Dwivedi is a popular columnist and has been contributing regularly to leading Odia dailies, which include The Samaj, The Sambad, The Prameya and The Nitidin. His canvas is macro with issues on economics, politics, philosophy, environment and science. His published works include, Asantusta Hebara Anuraga’(2006), ‘Mukha’ (2007), ‘Maya Miriga’ (2008), ‘Eka Chitra Baghara Kahani’ (2009), ‘Lohita Surjyara Desha’ (2010), ‘Boa Seniornka Sesha Gita’ (2011), ‘Nija Nija Nirvana’ (2012), ‘Nija Bhitare Akasha’ (2014), ‘Gandhinka Saha Kape Kafi’ (2015), ‘Jonathanra Dena’ (2016), ‘Antarikshara Akhi’ (2016).

Sri Dwivedi is also a nature photographer and known for his talks in AIR on current issues. He thinks, a rural upbringing for any writer is richer than that of his urban counterpart, though both provide a myriad set of situations which shape the destiny of one’s writing.
